US concerned over detention of opposition figures in Moscow

United States has expressed its concerns regarding the detention of opposition figures in Moscow. Press speaker of the US Security Council Thomas Vietor said the detention of opponents by Russian authorities contradicts the policy announced by Russian leader.

The statement says that such steps are aimed to intimidate the people, who are using their constitutional rights of demonstrations.

Russian militia arrested twenty people while they were holding demonstration with the slogan ‘Russia without Putin’ in central Moscow last night, the organizers of the rally, Sergey Udaltsov and Eduard Limonov were among the detainees. They were demanding release of political prisoners and objecting to the policy of the Kremlin.
