OSCE does not recognize elections in Abkhazia

OSCE does not recognize the so-called elections of president conducted in Georgia`s breakaway republic of Abkhazia.

The members of the OSVE Permanent Council have declared the elections illegitimate and defined that the international society would never recognize elections conducted in Abkhazia beyond Georgian legitimacy.

The OSCE delegation tried to justify the recognition of the so-called elections in the occupied Abkhazia, however, none of the OSCE member states supported the legitimacy of the polls.

Instead, the permanent council urged Russia to fulfil the terms of the August 12, 2008 ceasefire agreement, which stipulates that Russia must pull out its forces from the territory of Georgia.
